We have Roy! ~ He's ADORABLE! :)

Hey Everyone!  Long Time, No Blog!  So sorry about that!  the wifi connection has been a trickle!  There is a huge convention going on now & we aren't sure if everyone is using the wifi or what. I've been fortunate to get an occasional photo on FB before we get kicked off.  We are now using a Ethernet cord, but cant get all websites - even g mail is forbidden in China!

Anyhow...overall, things are going well.  We met Roy on Monday at 2:30.  He came to us with a low sad cry.  Within a few minutes, we had him smiling & even laughing!  We were in complete SHOCK!  We expected him to be in "shut down" mode.  What a wonderful surprise!  For all that he has been through in his little life, we are in awe at how well he is doing!  Roy is EXTREMELY SHY but also EXTREMEMELY ADORABLE.  ;-)  He cries whenever there is a new change.  We don't blame him one little bit.  We think it will take him time to realize we are here to stay and he can relax with us.

On Tuesday, we went back to the Civil Affairs office (where we met Roy initially) and filled out paperwork galore.  We are finally near the end of paperwork!  After that, we went and applied for his passport & visa.  We should get that in a few days.

On Wed we had his medical appointment.  Roy needs to be healthy to travel to the states. He HATED this with a passion.  He screamed & cried so hard.  Oh, how we felt so bad for him.  Once the medical was finished, our guide brought us to Trustmart - their Walmart.  What an experience!  Once home, i'll try & get photos up. I can only push my luck so much here.  We bought some snacks etc.  It was very eye opening.  :-)

Today (Thurs), we went to Roy's orphanage and met his Foster Mother - she came running over to Roy! oh how she loves him!  you can see it on her face!  she was soo thrilled!  She answered tons of questions that we had.  How thankful we are for that!!  We then got a tour of the orphanage.  We were very disappointed as we were there during nap time & didn't see one child!  It was nice to see where he lived part of his life.  The staff made lunch for us - delicious authentic food.  Mike was in heaven!

Speaking of Mike....can I just say how AMAZING HE IS?  seriously!  I am embarrassed to say....but i'm dealing with post partum.  Yes - its true.  Over 60% of adoptive Moms get this.  I had it with Maddie too.  For some reason, I really didn't think this would happen again.  I am in need for serious prayer. My worst time of day is the morning (your evening), please pray for me to overcome this!  I wont get into details, but its not pretty.  Mike has been AMAZING - doing most of the care for Roy while i'm in this state.  I could not ask for a more supportive husband.  I cry just typing this.  He's the best!

Tomorrow is our first day of sight seeing which should be fun.

Thanks for following along!

love, Dawn & Mike
